Becoming After (2026) is the fifth studio album by the Italian progressive power metal band Noveria. Released on August 21, 2026, via Scarlet Records, it marks a new era for the band with a significantly revamped lineup.
Mattei remains the founder and leader. The album features high-profile guest appearances: legendary pianist/composer Mike Moran (known for his work with Freddie Mercury, Queen, and Ozzy Osbourne) on "Through Your Light"; Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Vivaldi Metal Project) on keyboards for "Cold Flames"; and real string arrangements and performances by violinist Abigail Stahlschmidt (Jim Peterik, Chris Caffery) and cellist Luca Basile. Vocalist Jordan Trey also makes a guest appearance. The cover art and visual design are by Paolo Conte and Bianca Gambrioli.
The record deepens Noveria’s signature blend of progressive power metal with modern heaviness, grand cinematic atmospheres, massive riffs, demanding technical sections, virtuoso solos, and memorable choruses. It is described as darker, deeper, and more emotional than previous works, yet also more vibrant and intense. Central themes revolve around transformation, resilience, rebirth, confronting fear—as well as inner darkness and the void—self-discovery, betrayal, revenge, and overcoming real-life battles to forge strength (turning scars into power).
The band returns "heavier, more cinematic and emotional, and definitely fearless," with powerful choirs clashing against crushing riffs, epic soundscapes, and technical intensity, alongside passionate vulnerability and raw aggression. Frequent comparisons include Dream Theater, Symphony X, Kamelot, Nevermore, Evergrey, and DGM.
