November Song

The paling sun keeps sinking down
an eerie silence falls around
The nights are long the days so short
a cold wind blows down from the north
The swirling mist cuts through the dawn
dead leaves are strewn across the lawn


The seagulls hover flying low
for out to sea they will not go
The fear grows quickly in the old
they meekly struggle with the cold
the chidren's faces all aglow
candles lit and stories told

just a few more weeks to go
harken the frost and soon the snow
the festive lights switched on in town
How soon the season comes around
