In this video I break down Novara Media’s coverage of the Jason Arday affair. Once celebrated as Cambridge’s youngest Black professor, Arday resigned amid serious allegations of plagiarism, fabricated data, exaggerated or invented personal claims, and questionable qualifications.
I go through how even Novara has to acknowledge the scale of the embarrassment for Cambridge University after it initially dismissed concerns as a “vile campaign,” only to launch an investigation and see Arday step down. We examine the inconsistencies in his academic work and backstory, Cambridge’s hiring process, the subsequent internal criticism from academics, and what the whole episode reveals about institutional priorities and standards.
