What is the sock story you ask?! Here it is:
She got some socks in the mail, no letter or return address, odd. They were super cute - pink bunnies and flowers, kittens, the sort of over-the-top cute girl socks you could find for kids, but for adult-sized. She loved them and put them on. The podcast was starting, and she wanted to show them off. Dan had just said the now growing sort of old joke about her shutting up and submitting. Just who the heck did he think he was anyway?
She felt the surge of anger build, thinking - huh, that's weird; she loved his humor, but today she was VERY upset at him, at the podcast, at everything in the room, in fact. What was going on?
"Show your feet, chick!" he said in a deep voice.
That did it. She SNAPPED. She flung out her arm, knocking the things off the desk between them; items went FLYING - Dan was shocked.
"Woah," he said, leaning back, thinking that it was a bit much - but then saw how red in the face she was. As part of her mind wondered why she was doing this, a darker part said, "Because they must pay! For what they have done to us!" Uh oh, only too late, she thought about the socks - where HAD they come from anyway? Oh no - they were cursed or something, had some sort of demon attached to them - and now it was in her mind! Controlling her, she thought this as she saw, helpless, as her body ravaged the studio, destroying equipment, items - everything was in shambles. Dan, for his part, had rushed off to get help, and so had the one in the booth - thank goodness, for she did not want them to come to harm.
"THE CHICK WILL NOT BE SILENCED AGAIN!!!!" her voice called out deeply; the burning of vocal cords was felt as she lost more control. "No, please - no more..." she pleaded with the thing controlling her... but it was too late.
If only she had not put on those socks...
She screamed - and woke. It was a nightmare. She looked over at Dan, sound asleep. She breathed a sigh of relief.
Smiling, she held him close, and into her view, she saw a box on a chair in the room. It had no return address and only said "The Chick" on the side.... Uh oh.
