Despite looking like a scene from The Dark Crystal, there is critical conservation work happening here. Sometimes, the team of wildlife care experts at the Safari Park will make a strategic decision to puppet rear chicks, like these endangered Egyptian vultures, in order to encourage their parents to produce a second egg while ensuring all of the little one's nutritional needs are met.
These efforts are helping to increase genetic diversity amongst the existing Egyptian vulture population in order to give them a fighting chance for generations to come.
