The sky it turned purple,
The sky went bright red,
But Petunia the duck
Would not go to bed.

Drake said to Petunia,
“It’s time now for bed.”
But Petunia was stubborn
“Not yet, please,” she said.

Drake went up to bed,
For the sun had just set,
But Petunia decided:
“I will not go just yet.”

The sky was bright pink,
The grass was pure green,
Other chickens and ducks
Were nowhere to be seen.

“Not yet,” quacked Petunia.
As she went down the lane,
“It’s too early, too soon now,
“Not yet,” she complained.

She quacked loud and clear,
As she waddled along,
“Not yet, not just yet,”
Came her voice clear and strong.

To the coop she came near
That’s as close as she’d get,
And she cried strong and clear:
“Not yet, not just yet!”

Then she stepped in the door,
And she went up to bed,
With a very loud cry of
“Not yet, not just yet!
