Everyone stumbles over the stumbling stone, even most Christians. What is the stumbling stone? Jesus Christ himself. How do we stumble? By believing we are good enough in ourselves to make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. This is what all New Age teachers teach too. Most of us think we are "good people." We're not and we deceive ourselves when we say we are and when we think we are. No one makes it into New Jerusalem based upon his or her own righteousness. No one. "Why do you call me good?" Jesus once asked his questioner. He did not deny that he was good. He was. Then, he said, "There is only ONE good, God." He IS God. We stumble when we do not acknowledge that Jesus himself is God. We stumble when we think we can clothe ourselves with our own righteous works. Our nakedness and sin can be covered only one way, by the blood of Jesus, our God and Father who died for our sins.
