Brian came to us as a Norwood 5 patient, having already undergone both FUE and FUT procedures in the past. This time, he was looking to add what he called a “second coat of paint.” While a third procedure is often not viable, Brian had excellent scalp elasticity, which gave Dr. Blumenthal the confidence to move forward.
The main priority was restoring the first two fingers of his hairline, as Brian was less concerned with crown coverage. The day of his procedure went extremely well. In fact, we were able to cover more than expected. Brian shared that this was a much smoother and more comfortable experience compared to the FUT procedure he had done elsewhere. With his naturally high pain tolerance, he described the process as very manageable.
For context, Brian had tried both common transplant methods in the past. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) involves individually extracting grafts, leaving tiny dot scars that are almost undetectable. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant), sometimes called the “strip method,” removes a strip of scalp from the donor area. Brian noted that his experience here, compared to his FUT, was far easier and more comfortable.
