Scores of people who had gathered outside the Royal Palace in Oslo on Saturday (August 29) watched King Haakon's first address to the nation in which he paid homage to his late father King Harald who died on Friday (August 28) at the age of 89.

In the recorded televised speech at the palace, Haakon praised Harald as a warm family man. He noted that Saturday should have been the celebration of the 58th wedding anniversary of Harald and Queen Sonja, who survives him.
