The Anadromist | Northern California Jesus People (1973 - 1974) Rare Document @TheAnadromist | Uploaded June 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
I recently rediscovered old 8mm film footage, that had been buried for quite a while, of the Jesus People communes and churches of Marin and Sonoma counties between 1973 and 1974. This is part of what was then called The Church of the Open Door. This is an excellent document of life in one of the first Jesus People groups after their initial wild and woolly days. I have included rare Jesus People music from Northern California that was never made for commercial purposes. Perhaps the last genuine folk music in America. I do not comment on the videos except in intertitles. I have discussed my own involvement in the Jesus People at that time elsewhere. I hope you find it fascinating. A sliver of time in a very specific place.
