We visited North Durham Academy in Stanley on Tuesday, 20th February 2018 for their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Inspire Day.
The STEM Inspire Day was setup to encourage the next generation of engineers and provide an insight of what there is on offer in the region.
Our Steam team sent along 'Rambler' our steam roller, to explain engineering and the process of how a steam locomotive works, whilst our Learning team provided the 'Just One Spark' activity - which shows the development of the miner's lamp and the terrifying gas explosions which did and potentially could occur down the mines.
