IOT/smart home devices generally use a control and response command structure. In this video tutorial we look at controlling a IOT/smart home device using both MQTT and HTTP and showing the device status on the switch by using the device response.

The template Ui node can be used to both format and display data. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with the other template node which does data formatting.
