Dedicated in heartfelt tribute to the father of sole bandmember Arathorn and reigning from the overlooked doom soundscapes of Australia, Nocturnal's brand of blackened doom metal is literal in its influences, utilizing a tone that is efficient at drawing from both its wells of inspiration and performing each with an earnestness that is just cold enough to be black metal and a precision that is just imprecise enough to be doom metal. Despite its short length, this well put-together foray into a new, tight sound is just unsettling enough to predict the coming new genre of suicidal depressive black metal while being just esoteric enough to be forgotten shortly after its prophetic introduction, leaving it to more intrepid collectors to seek it out and document it.
