The older I get, the more passionate I am about people not giving up on their own lives.
No failure is final unless we decide it is.
Our lives are the stories we tell ourselves about the things that happen to us and through us.
Even in suffering, Viktor Frankl said, “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms, to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
The decision to face our own lives and make the most of them, regardless of the cards we’ve been dealt, is ours alone.
We have more power than we realize.
Sometimes we’re rebuilding from choices we made.
Sometimes we’re rebuilding from things that were done to us.
Either way, we’re standing in the same place, facing the same question:
Will this get the final word, or will I?
Hope and faith go a long way.
So does courage.
So does choosing, again and again, to tell a better story with what we’ve been given, even when it’s messy, unfinished, or still hurting.
You’re not behind.
You’re not disqualified.
You’re still allowed to choose your way forward.
