In the DJ Basin, Noble Energy’s compressed natural gas (CNG) bus program has now helped school districts purchase 61 buses with contributions of nearly $5 million since 2013. Noble will hit its goal of donating 75 buses by the end of 2019.
Because clean-burning natural gas is up to one-third less expensive than diesel fuel on an equivalent energy basis, school districts will save approximately $3,000 on fuel per CNG bus per year, while dramatically reducing air pollutants.
