Shimon Sakaguchi delivered his Nobel Prize lecture "Regulatory T cells for Immune Tolerance: Discovery and Clinical Prospects" at Aula Medica, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm on 7 December 2024. He was introduced by Professor Gunilla Hedestam, member of the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025 was awarded jointly to Mary E. Brunkow, Frederick J. Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi "for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance".
