Immersive audio puts you in a different environment. AIRS does the opposite — it takes the musician and puts them in your environment.
Every acoustic instrument radiates sound differently in every direction. That's why you can always tell when there's a live band playing somewhere — the sound changes as you move around the room. Recorded music through a stereo system can never do that, no matter how good the system is.
AIRS captures that directional sonic bubble using six microphones placed around the instrument — left, right, front, rear, up and down — with each mic feeding directly to its own amp and speaker with no EQ and no processing. Pure capture, pure reproduction. Walk around the system and the hi hat is over here, the body of the guitar is over there, and standing behind it sounds like standing behind the actual instrument.
Built in the garage. I don't think anyone else is doing it. And the reactions at InfoComm 2026 were amazing.
