When you're done, you'll realize why it's easy to see why Hyundai and the N Performance Division is at the top of their game. Especially when the VP of Porsche, Frank Moser, reportedly referred to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as an "eye-opening" car for Porsche's engineers. No other brand right now offers track focused cars with full gas and full EV options and under the $100K USD or CAD price point.
Porsche and BMW's lineups might have the power but not the track focused features. Plus the price tag, battery management system and simulated gear shifting are all unique to Hyundai N as of right now. As a Veloster N owner, I’m obsessed with Hyundai’s track focused enthusiast philosophy. And driving the Ioniq 5 N allowed me to see if that same spirit carries over to an EV. And look, I know what you’re thinking: 'Simulated gears? Rowdy fake noises? That’s all just a gimmick.'
But here’s the thing, it’s the first EV that actually provides track focused feedback and allows you to bounce off a virtual rev limiter while drifting. It's not just fast; it's fun.
