Eddie Kamae composed music for lyrics written by an unknown author. Eddie felt the song needed an opening chant, and with the help of Rev. Edward Kappa, a former stevedore, created one for the Sons of Hawaii’s recording.

I like the version of the song by the Hawaiian Style Band, but wanted to add the chant and include all the verses of the song, so this is my rendition. I hope you like it.
