Today, we're diving into exploring new harmonic worlds. Over the weekend, I came up with an idea that the frequency shifter is a super interesting tool for this. Unlike a pitch shifter, the frequency shifter moves all frequencies by the same amount up or down, which actually breaks all the harmonic relationships. This can lead to some really unique results.
The tricky part, though, is that this approach makes it hard to play melodic accompaniments. But I’ve come up with a simple solution to make it work in Bitwig, and that’s what I’ll be showing you in this video. This might be especially interesting if you’re into creating horror soundtracks, chromatic scales for techno, or just want to explore sounds beyond the usual major and minor scales.
