This trip was something truly special for our family. To celebrate our son Wolfy's 5th birthday, we escaped the hustle of Tokyo and drove 3 hours to a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains of Yamanashi—Hoshino Resort RISONARE Yatsugatake.

While this resort is popular with Japanese families for its nature-filled activities and peaceful setting, it’s still a hidden secret for foreign tourists—which made it the perfect off-the-beaten-path destination for us. No sponsorships, no ads—we paid for this trip ourselves, and we just wanted to share our genuine experience with you.

From forest adventures and nature trails to night bug hunts and family walks under the stars, this was one of our best trips ever. Wolfy even went on a solo forest expedition with a guide—he's growing up so fast...

We slowed life down: walkie-talkie adventures, relaxing in the public bath, and soaking in quality family time. It reminded us how important it is to disconnect, even as content creators, and just be present.
