The Department of the Interior just held the latest Arctic Refuge lease sale mandated by the 2017 Tax Act—and they received NO BIDS.

This marks yet another failure for attempts to auction off this irreplaceable wilderness. Oil and gas companies, banks, and insurers see drilling in the Refuge as "all risk, no reward." Meanwhile, the Gwich’in Nation and countless advocates continue to fight to protect this vital ecosystem.

$LNG explained Contrary to industry spin, so-called “natural” gas is a dirty fossil fuel just like coal or oil and has no place in a clean energy transition. Yet, the fossil fuel industry has proposed a massive expansion of gas exports, known as LNG. There are currently nine operating LNG export facilities and more than 35 planned or under-construction facilities - mostly in the Gulf Coast, that would lock in devastating levels of pollution for a generation. Expanding gas exports will drive an increase in fracking and associated pollution in the United States, leaving our communities to suffer from increased air and water pollution. Expanded gas exports would make it impossible to meet necessary global climate goals. A Sierra Club analysis found the full proposed LNG buildout could contribute to the climate crisis as much as 681 coal plants or 548 million gasoline-powered cars each year. Energy prices are increasing by billions of dollars for American families because big oil and gas companies are exporting LNG overseas. These wealthy CEOs pad their pockets by selling American energy to our rivals, like the Chinese government, to make record profits.
