While the launch went off without a hitch, the lead up to the monumental event was no cake walk.NASA has worked on the Perseverance mission for 7 years. Due to "orbital constraint," the launch to Mars depends on planetary alignment between Earth and Mars, which takes place during three crucial weeks every 26 months. Failing to launch during this window would delay the launch till September 2022, and cost NASA half a billion dollars in vehicle storage expenses.
