Started in 1976 as part of National Institutes of Health's (NIH) Bicentennial celebration, the herb garden at the National Library of Medicine showcases the healing power of nature at its very richest. Located directly in front of the main Library building (38) across the oval driveway, the garden's lush variety of herbs captures the endless curative, aromatic, and useful qualities that made these healing plants integral to the development of modern medicine. The garden is maintained by volunteers from the Montgomery County (MD) Master Gardener Association and the Herb Society of America, Potomac (MD) Unit, who took on the project in 1986. Many of the original plantings still grow in the garden. Herbs remain relevant in the modern medicinal world, having found renewed appreciation from doctors and herbalists alike.

Title translates in English as altitude sickness. A man wearing a hat folded from newspaper is writing on a piece of paper. A hand reaches in and places a breathing apparatus in the mans mouth. Other men are shown wearing aviator goggles, writing on paper, and using the breathing apparatus. One man repeatedly holds his hands out from his body, examining their movement. Some of the people in the film wear white coats, suggesting they are scientists or doctors. In the final frames, three men and a woman, all in white coats, are outside, smiling and handling a camera and what appears to be a length of string. This film was made approximately one year after the Deutsche Forschungsrat für Luftfahrt (German Aeronautics Research Council) was founded.
