Join history professor Dr. Brian Hackett as he continues his presentation on historical furniture with the second segment, as which moves into the post-Civil War era, exploring bold styles like Renaissance Revival, Gothic, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Discover how changing tastes, new technology and cultural influences shaped the way people lived and designed their spaces.
Dr. Brian Hackett is one the first individuals to receive a Ph.D in Public History in America. He has over 40 years experience working in the museum business, in positions as diverse as tour guide, curator, and Executive Director. Believing heavily in the philosophy that the best class room is the real world, Dr. Hackett has designed courses in the NKU Public History Program to be as much hands on as possible.
Students do real work in real museums, archives, historic sites and in Historic Preservation; making an immediate difference in the community. Dr. Hackett’s areas of specialty include exhibits, collections and material culture.
