Niroshtha is a pentatonic scale with the Madhyama and Panchama as the Varja swarams.Thus the bilabial sounds are amiss. Ragam Niroshtha is a Janya Ragam of the 29th Melakarta Ragam Dheera Shankarabharanam.Niroshtha Ragam was founded by Dr Harikeshanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar.The great Vaggeyakara's krithi 'Raaja Raaja Radhite' in Niroshtha Ragam stands as a stellar example for students of Carnatic music. Muthiah Bhagavathar's Parama Shishya Brahmasri Kollegal R Subramanyam has composed 'Varadaayakee Neevegathi' in Niroshtha Ragam.
