The N64 was having trouble following up a strong start in the UK. But in July 1998 a Rare produced cartoon platformer, a blockbuster arcade conversion and.... a preview of a Rare produced cartoon platformer promised a 2nd wind.
Is the cartoon platformer good enough? Does an arcade conversion cut it as a genre in 1998? And why did the 2nd cartoon platformer take 3 years, 2 name changes and one massive tonal shift to see a release?

Bonus Fact for Scrolling : Rare were bought by Microsoft a year after Conker and have been predictably largely exclusive ever since. Their first thing for MS was that Conker remake and if you want to torture yourself it's in the Rare Replay pack and works on every released Xbox version. There's essentially no difference in the single player.
Also yes, I twice got the name of the game technically wrong, there's no "and". I KNOW.
