Very surprised that I got this. This is my first PR set with a double spindrift. If I got Ejay strat as well, I wouldve gotten 3rd WW. This also beats KingAlexs former 18.641 WR from late 2018 by a millisecond, which is pretty cool. Only complaints were that I could have held the drifts for a bit longer and also maybe attempt Ross strat.

This is a tool-assisted speedrun. This time will not count on any real-time rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 with savestates, slowdown, frame advance, speedometer, TAS code, and RAM watch (created by SwareJonge).

I wanted to make another Baby Booster TAS, this time on Grumble Volcano, but I ended up beating the Kart TAS BKT so yeah. Im not entirely sure if the Baby Booster is faster than the Cheep Charger here, but it looks like it after comparing the run to the previous TAS BKTs. I spent a lot of time optimising this. I re-did Lap 1 and 2 over five times each, and re-did lap 3 over ten times. Despite my best efforts, I wasnt able to make TAS Entry using the Baby Booster, so I opted to TAS the fast entry strategy instead.
Lap 3 is awesome. A lot of QM was required to get all the necessary wall bonks and turns. When TASing the last turn, I was just about to give up all hope trying to sub 17 until I managed to get an extremely lucky stick to the rock, allowing me to cut off more time. The hop right before the finish line saves 0.001. I wanted to get a 3.899 lap 3 in the end, but oh well.
I see that this video is getting a substantial amount of attention. For anyone wondering, This run was made on Dolphin Emulator and is a TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun), therefore it wont count on any real rankings. The definition for a TAS is as follows:
A tool-assisted speedrun or tool-assisted superplay (TAS) is a set sequence of controller inputs used to perform a task in a video game. The input sequence is usually created by emulating the game and using tools such as slow motion, frame-by-frame advance, memory watch, and save states to create an extremely precise series of inputs. The idea is not to make gameplay easier for players, but rather to produce a demonstration of gameplay that would be practically impossible for a human player. Tool-assisted speedruns often feature gameplay that would otherwise be impossible or prohibitively difficult to perform in real time. Producers of tool-assisted speedruns do not compete with unassisted speedrunners of video games; on the contrary, collaborative efforts between the two groups often take place.

I made this run with savestates, slowdown, frame advance and speedometer.
Took me around two days to do this. Funny how I beat MrFake/journeys flap with Flame Flyer...
About the run:
-A hop after using the first shroom is neccessary to get height,
-I didnt hug the wall before the cannon as close as possible because its harder to charge a super mini turbo
-low cannon doesnt seem to be possible with kart
-doing a 4th trick at the very bottom of the net makes it very slightly harder to charge a miniturbo with a softdrift on the side path. I also didnt see any noticeable difference so yeah.")
