![ahxt is a smbx thing that needs a bit of help
I go over this little piece of writing that rixi sent me!
but also Im just going to outright post the whole thing down bellow. gasp!
***
- recap/overview of the project
- A Halloween X Thing
- classic hub-based 2D platformer Demo game about collecting leeks (stars)
- being made in the latest version of SMBX2 (beta 5 patch 4)
- the devkit is completely optional and levels do not have to be fine art. they can be rude and crude and jank and stinky
- the most important things are that they are human-made, stable enough (no lua errors or crashes), and theyre fun and/or satisfying to make
- [REVEALED PUBLICLY VIA THIS VIDEO] the deadline for submissions was previously november 1st 2026, but is being extended again into Q1 2027. exact date TBD
- an early testing build is being released at the start of october (the open alpha)
- it wont have the incomplete relay, final boss, or a postgame
- any last-minute alpha submissions meant for the postgame will be included in the maingame final world
- some features will be dummied out/removed as they will be based on playtester feedback; for example, doozy warnings are now doozy ratings that will be averaged from playtester-provided scores. more details will be provided closer to the alpha release
- full game will have closed testing, aiming for a summer 2027 release. will contain
- all finalized levels and bosses
- updated level distribution and hub content balancing
- the previously-mentioned features based on playtester feedback
- a proper postgame world
- [MAIN THING] the team is looking for 1-3 more people to help with development tasks (lunalua programming, repo management) and organizer duties (communications and updating dev spreadsheets/documents).
- ***especially communications, the current organizers take too long drafting announcements and all get anxious about imposing on raocow & community admins***
- [SECONDARY THING] the biggest thing the team needs help with right now, level design-wise, is the relay
- submit segments as single-section levels, roughly shorter than would warrant a checkpoint. the team will combine them into a single lvlx
- focus on pure endgame platforming, lives (but not dragon coins) should be the only optional rewards
- you can start working on it as soon as you claim a section, but asset IDs need to be requested to avoid custom gfx/code conflicts.
- the team is willing to waive this requirement on a case-by-case basis, they will make it work if need be, but otherwise recommend blocking sections out with placeholders (i.e. cement blocks and munchers) before committing to a tileset.
- for anyone who wants to contribute standalone levels, theres two options based on the size of the level they want to make (the smaller ones are called detours)
- more info on the relay + charts convering the differences in level types here, https://talkhaus.raocow.com/viewtopic.php?p=506089#p506089
- development is primarily taking place in that talkhaus thread and the asmt discord server, https://discord.gg/88Vygae
- if someone wants to join the team, they can
- post in that same talkhaus thread
- get in touch with rixi, oddwrath, or kobabeach through either the above links or any other raocow- or smbx-related discord servers theyre active in

so yeah here we go. good luck everyone ! ahxt is a smbx thing that needs a bit of help](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/rNGIlE85_6k/mqdefault.jpg)
