So this happened to me once in the past when I was going through my no death run. I was baffled since it happened at one of the early bodies of water. Unable to replicate it, I went on my way trophy hunting until I decided to come back to it.

Here is my unaltered and unedited experiments and as you can see I was successful in making the glitch happen later in the stage. Going out of bounds is interesting because it seems it does have its own unmarked body of water. Which was bad for me because I couldn't escape after "leaving" the water out there lol the only way out is exiting or restarting!
