The song: Nidälven (original title: Nidelva) is a waltz written 1940 in Norway by Oskar Hoddö and Christian Christensen. Nidelva is a River in Norway, flowing through the city of Trondheim. In Sweden, the song became very popular and the recordings are very many – almost all in different arrangements. The Spacemen have played it live in Swedish television. My favourite dans band, Sven-Ingvars, have recorded it two times, first with English and later with Swedish lyrics. My arrangement here is inspired by their second recording. Hope you'll enjoy!
The video: ...might need an explanation, what did I think of? I probably didn’t think at all, this is a song about a river and here in Sweden the song is very often played by dance bands. So it’s water and dance in the video. The dancers are my favourite Swedish dancers Nils Andrén and Bianca Locatelli, dancing at The International Lindy Hop Championships 2018.
The guitar: The guitar I’m using here has been a wall decoration in my studio for almost 15 years. A week ago I decided to put new strings on it. I know you wont believe me, but the guitar was still tuned when I ”demounted” it from the wall, half a step to low, but in tune after 15 years! I decided to use it when recording a song and this is the result. The guitar is a German built Framus Golden Television, probably from -65. It’s an odd guitar with way too many switches and a funny little knob with a hook on just above the volume controls. It’s actually a volume pedal mounted in the guitar – use your pinky to turn it, from no volume to full volume…
This is my 200th upload on YouTube. Guess the counter will show 201, but as YouTube in it’s kindness decided to block one of my posts worldwide, it’s 200.
