Nicole Young, a newcomer to Selling Sunset, is addressing a hurtful accusation made by her costar Chrishell Stause in the recently released sixth season of the Netflix reality show.
Young claimed that Stause took credit for two of her listings almost three years ago, and throughout the season, tensions rise as Young believes that their boss, Jason Oppenheim, allowed Stause to "steal" her listings due to his previous romantic involvement with both agents.
In a candid interview with PEOPLE, Young reflects on the impact of Stause's accusation and how it affected her emotionally.
She shares, "When she first said it, I felt like I'd just been hit by a train. I was so shocked... I was just absolutely gutted." Young's immediate reaction was to call her husband Brandon for support, stating, "He was kind of the one to talk me off the ledge and just bring me back down to earth."
Young addresses the strained relationship between her and Stause.
She explains, "We're to a point where we can just peacefully coexist. I think it's very normal in any kind of workplace for not everyone to be friends. So as long as we can just be in the same office, focus on our business — that's the best scenario that we can have."
Contrary to speculations, Young clarifies that she is not trying to fill the "villain" role left vacant by former cast member Christine Quinn.
She asserts her commitment to her role as a realtor for the Oppenheim Group, stating, "I can confidently say the only role I'm trying to play is Nicole Young, realtor for the Oppenheim Group. And I think I nailed it."
Young highlights the strong bonds she shares with some of her colleagues. She expresses her close connection with Amanza Smith and Mary Fitzgerald, explaining that they have been supportive of each other since her early days at the Oppenheim Group.
She also maintains a positive friendship with her ex, Jason Oppenheim, and his twin brother, Brett, saying, "I go back with all four of those people, and this situation has just deepened our bond and friendship even more."
