"I have been know to write epic music that is perhaps a little bit avant garde at times and not particularly mainstream. I have quite a few songs that I consider great compositions that fall into this category. “Gods In The Cloud Suite” is one of them. This song began more than 12 years ago. It is a sci-fi tune and I imagined alien landscapes and god-like entities when I wrote it. I don’t think it really sounds like anything else I’ve ever heard.
Ai is everywhere suddenly. There is a lot of discussion as to how this will affect artists. Will it replace many artists? Will it affect artists’ ability to earn a living? There is also a big debate about ai infringing on artists rights and stealing their ideas. I am, of course, against ai ruining the artistic landscape. I’m sure everyone is. But at the same time, I wanted to see what ai, along with the talents of an amazing graphic artist, could do with some very interesting prompts and direction. As it turns out, also a ton of massaging and reworking. This project was impossible without the assistance of ai. It would never have happened at all, without the new technology. The idea was this: Can ai present a new vision that encapsulates all intelligent life in the universe and the very nature of existence, culture, beliefs and perhaps God? Can you feed it a bunch of concepts so it stumbles upon something profound. I think the answer is it cannot. Or at least, it did not here. But, I believe the attempt and the collaboration of computer, and Russel Klimas and I, along with the music, is something worthy of viewing. It is pure imagination.
We pushed very hard to find something unique, otherworldly and inspirational in our landscapes. In the end, the vision is distinctly human at its core. Or is it? I hope it blows your mind."
