This is the first in a 10-part series of two filmmakers attempting to cross the proposed Nicaraguan canal route from the Pacific to the Caribbean coast. They do so against the warnings of a Nicaragua-based reporter jailed for attempting the same feat. Their goal is twofold:
1. Show the landscapes, watersheds, animals and peoples that will be lost if the canal is ever built.
2. Avoid getting caught.
