"Ni no Kuni" is a role-playing video game, developed by Level-5 for the Nintendo DS and later the PlayStation 3. The Nintendo DS version, titled Ni no Kuni: Dominion of the Dark Djinn was released on December 9, 2010, while the PlayStation 3 version, titled Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, was released in Japan on November 17, 2011, with a Western release on January 22, 2013. Studio Ghibli, renowned for their award winning animated films, created the animated sequences of the game.
Both versions of the game (DS and PS3) were critically acclaimed, with many critics praising its graphic design and its unique gameplay which combines traditional Japanese RPG combat with more fast-paced Western RPG combat. The game won multiple "Best RPG" awards, with the DS version getting slightly better reviews than its PlayStation 3 counterpart.
The North American and European PlayStation 3 versions are published by Namco Bandai Games and include both English and Japanese voice tracks. Due to problems in translating and distributing the magic book outside of Japan, the Nintendo DS version was not localized. Despite this, a collector's edition of the PlayStation 3 version that contains the translated book was released alongside the standard edition.

Nier is an action-adventure video game developed by Cavia and published by Square Enix. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Australia, Europe, Japan and North America in April 2010. In Japan, the game was released as NieR Gestalt for the Xbox 360, while an alternate version entitled NieR Replicant was released for PlayStation 3 with a younger main character. The game is a spin-off from the Drakengard series, and follows the fifth ending of the first game, the events of which have left the planet Earth in a state of decay. Set over one thousand years after this, the game puts the player in control of the titular protagonist Nier, as he attempts to find a cure for an illness, known as the Black Scrawl, to which his daughter Yonah has succumbed. Partnering with a talking book known as Grimoire Weiss, he journeys with two other characters, Kainé and Emil, as he attempts to find a remedy and understand the nature of the creatures known as Shades that stalk the world. The gameplay borrows elements from various video game genres, occasionally switching between them and the main RPG-based gameplay.

Hitman Absolution is a stealth video game developed by IO Interactive and published by Square Enix. It is the fifth installment in the Hitman game series, and runs on IO Interactive s proprietary Glacier 2 game engine. The game was released on 20 November 2012 (which is in the 47th week of the year in reference to the protagonist, Agent 47) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. On 15 May 2014 Hitman: Absolution — Elite Edition was released for Mac OS X by Feral Interactive; it contained all previously released downloadable content, including Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a making of documentary, and a 72-page artbook.
