This game was published and developed by Namco.
Ridge Racer is a racing game created by Namco. It was released in 1993 on the Namco System 22 arcade system board. It is the first title in the Ridge Racer series. It is the first Ridge Racer series game released in the PlayStation console. This game uses the same games covers for both the Japanese version and the North America version.
Ridge Racer was ported to the PlayStation in Japan in 1994 and in the United States and Europe in 1995 as a launch title. It was also included in the NamCollection for the PlayStation 2 in 2005, released exclusively in Japan. This game followed by Ridge Racer Revolution.
Ridge Racer was very innovative for its time, introducing minor car sim elements intertwined with the gameplay. The player could choose from the options of Course Select, Transmission, Car Select, Sound Select, Start, and Options. Course Select allowed the player to choose a course, each of varying difficulty, and choose between the two modes of a Race (against 11 other cars) and Time Trial (against one other car). The Course Select screen also displays data about the courses shape and difficulty.
After the players wins all the race modes, the player has to go to the Time Trial (either regular or extra) race mode and this will turn into a 3 car battle. The player will have to face one more extra car- Devil 13th Racing car. This car is very fast and extremely difficult to beat due to a lack of rear view mirror. To win, the player must learn the perfect racing line of the track. By sticking to racing line around the track, the Devil car will be blocked from passing and will crash into the back to the player. If the player manages to block the car for all 3 laps and wins the race, they will obtain the Devil car. This is especially important for Time Trial mode.
Namcos Ridge Racer features one huge course divided into three individual races. Youll compete against other racers as you tear around corners, launching into nearly impossible power slides. Choose from 13 vehicles, each with its own advantages and disadvantages in control, turning, top speed, and more. Race backwards, at day and night even race against the dreaded Diablo, a car whose name is nearly as legendary as the challenge it presents
Normally only 4 cars are selectable, but all 12 (excluding the Black No.13 Devil Car) are selectable if a player is able to defeat 100% of the enemies on the Galaxian loading game before the title screen.
R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 includes a bonus disc containing a new version of the original Ridge Racer, called Ridge Racer Turbo (known in Europe as Ridge Racer Hi-Spec Demo). This game runs at 60 frames per second with Gouraud shading utilised on the car models, as seen in R4. It only features the beginner mode version of the track. The gameplay was pretty much the same as the original Ridge Racer. Like usual, after the regular courses were beaten, the extra courses were unlocked. At the same time, the player would be required to race against the duel cars. They were the #13 Devil 13 Racing car and the #0 White Angel car.

The Raiden Project features two vertically scrolling arcade shooters on one disc: Raiden and Raiden II. Raiden takes place in 2090, a time when Earth is under attack by hordes of alien exobiological beings, a race of technologically advanced creatures from a distant galaxy. To combat this threat, the worlds top scientists, engineers and otherwise brilliant people have replicated a super high-altitude fighter/bomber from the remains of a downed alien vessel. This new ship is called Raiden (aka Lightning Thunderbolt), and you are its pilot.
There are eight missions in Raiden: Tranquil Countryside, In the City, On the High Seas, Mysterious Ruins, Enemys Earth Base, Floating Continent, Space Station and Enemy Space Battleship. As you fly over the various areas, you must fire at airborne and ground-based enemies, some of which release ammunition and weapons boosters when shot. Power-up items include Red Vulcan Bullets, Blue Lasers, Nuclear Missiles, Homing Missiles, Thermonuclear Bombs, Blue Sky Fairy (comes to your aid when fighter is destroyed) and Full Power (powers up current weapon to maximum level).
Raiden II, which takes place three years later, is similar to Raiden. It features all of the same weapons and power-ups, plus two advanced ones: Purple Plasma Lasers, which are guidable beams, and Cluster Bombs, which scatter over a large area, destroying everything in range. Missions in this game include: The Rural Zone, Go to Town, Enemy Naval Base, Ruins of the Ancients, Enemy Relay Base, Floating Crystal World, Enormous Galactic Battleship and The Final Target. The Raiden Project is for one or two players (simultaneously). The second player can join in at any time.

The Raiden Project contains both arcade hits: Raiden I & Raiden II.
Raiden I: The year is 2090 A.D., the Earth was suddenly and aggressively invaded by aliens from another universe. As the fierce battle continues, the worlds allied resistance recruited all of the top engineers to examine and evaluate a partially destroyed enemy fighter plane. As a result Raiden (meaning Thunderbolt) a super, high-altitude fighter-bomber was created. However, being so superior in performance, maneuverability and technology, they were only able to find two pilots who were capable of flying and controlling such a plane in battle. Now, the fate of the Earth is in the hands of these two fighter pilots.
Raiden II: For a period, the enemy was weakened and did not attack. Now, after 3 years, with replenished strength and supplies, an ever more severe battle breaks out. Gradually, the Earth begins to lose control. In order to break the state of war, the worlds allied resistance has created an even more powerful Raiden II, equipped with amazing new weapons - the Plasma Laser and Cluster Bombs. The future of human kind now rests on the outcome of a battle with no bounds.
Game Play: The Raiden Project is a classic arcade shooter. Raiden I and Raiden II each have eight levels. Players can arm themselves with eight different weapons: Red vulcan bullets, Blue laser, Nuclear missiles, Homing missiles, Thermonuclear bombs, Full power, Blue sky fairy, Purple plasma lasers and Cluster bombs.
