Hari Huritau to actor and producer Cliff Curtis today 🎉
Curtis has built a career spanning Aotearoa and the world. He’s worked with acclaimed directors, produced films locally, and most recently joined Taika Waititi and Jason Momoa in the acquisition of West Auckland’s Studio West.
Take a look back at one of his early screen roles in the 1994 episode ‘Ngā Puna - Kahu & Maia’, a story of romance, intrigue and ancestral connection. Maia (Vanessa Rare) is a visual artist carving the likeness of her tipuna Rongomaiwahine when the arrival of the mysterious Kahu (Curtis) sparks a powerful connection rooted in pūrākau (legend).
Part of the ‘Ngā Puna’ anthology series, produced under the guidance of Don Selwyn, it showcases early work from two standout performers.
