"Simultaneous use of CPU and GPU for fast and energy-efficient implicit wave simulation"
Speaker: Kohei Fujita, University of Tokyo
Date and Time: Thursday, October 30, 2025, 13:00–14:00 (JST)
In this talk, I will review an algorithm that simultaneously utilizes the large memory capacity of CPUs and the high-performance computing capability of GPUs to improve throughput and save energy in implicit wave simulations. Here, high-accuracy initial solutions of the next time step are predicted using past simulation data on memory-rich CPUs, while the iterative solver is computed on high-performance GPUs, leading to efficient computations without degradation in accuracy. The method is expected to be useful for other PDE-based implicit time history simulations on heterogeneous architecture systems.
