The next gen 2026 Toyota GR86 is reported to be under development with a hybrid powertrain with the 1.6L G16E-GTS turbo engine, mated to the Toyota Crown EV electric motor and battery. If true, this means that the second generation GR86 and BRZ twins would only have a four year lifecycle. This is well below the industry average.
