Archaeologists excavating in Switzerland have discovered a hoard of metal artefacts dating back to 1200 BC to 1000 BC. The late Bronze Age hoard was found in a field south of an ancient settlement on a transalpine trade route and it’s the largest Bronze Age hoard ever discovered in the region.
The objects were found to have been intentionally damaged to be unusable, placed in a wooden box, wrapped in leather and buried. The hoard includes several pieces of raw copper, sickles, axes, a part of a saw and jewellery pieces.
