Amazon games always seems fairly resistant against wanting to merge... Just like with most things in New World live-service running to be fair. Decisions are made but usually too late to really still save it from affecting the game in a detrimental way. In this case, many server sat empty - some even since before the previous server merger from earlier this year. Having less than 30 players during their peak times! Obviously you can't run a game partially around world-PvP with just 30 players.
Hopefully this change makes it so that New World is more enjoyable again for the people still playing the game! :D
