Just hours after setting the world record during the heats portion with a time of 23.49 seconds, Kate Douglass of the United States surpassed her own record with a time of 23.19 seconds in the women's 50m freestyle final on the fourth day of the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California. Taylor Ruck (Kelowna, British Columbia) finished fourth with a time of 24.23 seconds, setting a new Canadian record in the process.
