Poets House hosted a reading of poets Kaur Alia Ahmed, Gwen Aube, Cat Fitzpatrick, and Chariot Wish, whose new collections on gender, desire, and community, push the narrative, musical, and absurd to new heights.

Aube’s Missed Connections with Tall Girls (LittlePuss Press, 2026) and Fitzpatrick’s The Dinner Party (Seven Stories Press, 2026) offer hectic and humorous accounts of trans sociality as both snare and salve. The punk, imagistic poems in Ahmed’s Cursive Paradise and Wish’s P.E.A.C.E. present bodies in desire as gleaming sites of real and emotional puncture. From the sonnet to the sketch, these poets renegotiate what it means to love one another, and what we might demand of the world to make it so.
