Welcome to the wonderful world of hiking, get some experience on short hikes and with budget gear to get your feet wet so to speak before moving on to more expensive gear and attempting longer and my challenging hikes.
You may find that hiking is not for you and you will have saved a considerable amount of money and frustration.
Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.
