Tesla Corsa season is here! Last weekend, we drove Red Rocket, the UP 2024 Model 3 Performance from our headquarters in Hawthorne two hours north to Tesla Corsa at Buttonwillow Raceway Park to have some fun and data gather since the last time we were there is was 116 degrees. Not only did Craig set a new fastest lap time for the car, but he also set a new Model 3 Record on street tires: 1:52.53.
There is a lot of room for improvement in the new Model 3 platform, even after setting a new record, we are thinking we can shave down the time to 1:50. Might be time to start testing our new carbon fiber aero kit we have in the works to combat the sheer weight of these cars with understeer always being a factor.
Nonetheless, we had a great time at TeslaCorsa. It was great meeting enthusiasts from different levels, coming together as a community and being able to see drivers push the limits of their Teslas. It's a great opportunity for seasoned drivers and first-timers alike to experience the natural performance of their Teslas in a safe and supported environment. It is worthy to note that this record breaking Model 3 track set up is made entirely of UP catalog parts, which can be purchased today. If practicality is something you're worried about, even with a full track set up, our Model 3 remained a daily driver the entire trip from Los Angeles to Buttonwillow and back, allowing us to chase the lap times in this video.
