Metaphor: ReFantazio[a] is an upcoming 2024 role-playing video game developed by Studio Zero and published by Atlus. The game takes place in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a medieval fantasy realm mirroring the contemporary real world, after the assassination of its former King places a curse on the Prince, putting him in an eternal slumber. The protagonist, an orphaned boy of the magla-wielding Elda tribe and the Prince's childhood friend, is tasked with journeying across the kingdom to rally support from its people as he vies to take the throne in his place while also lifting the spell.

It incorporates multiple gameplay systems previously used in prior Atlus role-playing games, featuring a hybrid system that mixes the traditional Press Turn-based battle mechanics during initiated encounters and boss fights, with real-time action combat in the field. The main protagonist is a boy of the Elda tribe who has been ostracized by wider society for being "tainted" with the inheritance of forbidden magic and is often subject to discrimination and prejudice as a result. He is to embark on a quest to lift a curse placed on his childhood friend, the crown prince of Euchronia whom the kingdom believes was assassinated over ten years ago. Throughout the journey, he will be accompanied by a fairy companion named Gallica, whose immense knowledge and ability to sense magic aids him on the path ahead.
Other allies aid the protagonist and Gallica throughout the narrative. The main party comprises Strohl, a nobleman of the Clemar tribe who meets the protagonist at the State Army recruitment center, Hulkenberg, a knight of the Roussainte tribe formerly acting as part of the Royal Family's kingsguard and harboring considerable guilt for her inability to protect the Prince, and Heismay, a former knight of the bat-like Eugief tribe who is sensitive towards sound and endures similar discrimination from other tribes in the kingdom due to his physical appearance.
