Mama Miii-aaaaa!! Mario's finally reached the pinnacle of his journey through my own imagined "New Super Mario Bros" sequel, subtitled "Secret of the Dry Guys".
The music begins with an eery prelude building up over a series of dramatic Beethoven-esque chords over a pedal bass note... all while Mario and Yoshi approach the ominous main castle entrance. As the door opens, the music launches into a chilling waltz-like theme, almost mocking our heroes: "muahahahaha" cries Bowser, as his fiendish traps perplex and punish those who dare set foot inside...
After a series of encounters with the Koopalings (no longer in their Koopa Guy form), one by one at the end of a series of each of 7 hazardous hallways, avoiding Kamek's attacks along the way, Mario eventually emerges inside Bowser's own leery lair, whereupon the ... secret of the Dry Guys... is finally revealed to him:
The skins of Shy Guys carry the essence of power stars, and Bowser and his son Bowser Jr. have been shedding hundreds of them and converting poor, innocent Shy Guys into boney, soulless Dry Guys. (You can tell apart these Shy Guy Power Stars because of their "o"-shaped mouths!) With a makeshift laboratory full of newly built power stars, Bowser can finally become invincible -- at least, long enough to outlive his archnemesis, Mario.
Only YOU can stop him, Mario. God's speed......
