Oldest Species of Big Cat Discovered. The oldest pantherine fossils ever found were recently discovered in the Himalaya Mountains of Tibet. They belong to a new species of ancient prehistoric cat, now called Panthera blytheae. Jack Tseng along with his team of paleontologists made this incredible find.
