I finally found out what this song was called the other day and decided I'd like to try a cover of it. It's called, "New Soul" and it's by Yael Naim, from her self-titled 2007 album. It's not a very difficult song (unless you put a bunch of crazy pentatonic runs and high notes in it, which I might just do- I'm testing that part out, LOL!), but it's such a catchy song! I like it! I think you'll like it too!
This is a very rough run-through. Actually I had just eaten a half bag of popcorn and then decided to record this! (I don't really recommend eating popcorn before playing the trumpet- the popcorn skin gets stuck in your teeth!)
I used my Tascam DP008 recorder with its built-in microphone. That's why you kind of hear the trumpet coming in and out. And on the high stuff at the end, I actually had to place myself as far back from the mic as I could in my small recording room/booth! ;-)
Enjoy! Dave
Tech specs: using my Kanstul Chicago 1000 (copy of Chicago 3X) trumpet. Fun horn to play!
