This song is about a person & someone (a shadow) they only meet in dreams. They're in a lucid dream state, and don't want to wake up and be apart. The shadow gives them melodies to remember them by, & upon waking they will write their first song.
There are references to our first song Midnight Clover within this song, which actually did come to me in a dream before we started the band. So in a way, this song is conceptually a prequel!
A Shadow is a fantasy, but has many themes: yearning for someone/something/the past, missing someone, messages from beyond, nostalgia, etc.
I found old y2k pictures to use of mine that give off a vibe of odd familiarity and dreamy nostalgia. like dreaming about your house, but it's not your house.
